Fear is an emotion that everyone has had to deal with at one time or the other. Some have battled with this fierce emotion and, others are still on the battle ground. Some have found a way to lay their fears to eternal rest, others are still grappling with what to do with theirs.
Experience, they say, is the best teacher and somehow I tend to agree. Not only experiences you have had in the past but ones that others have had the opportunity of going through. An adage in my native language says, “An elder who falls into a pit teaches others valuable lessons.”
This simply means that others learn not to make the same mistakes that others have made and avoid pitfalls that landed others in a mess. However, I say that we do not only learn from others’ mistakes and failures but also from the success stories of those that have been able to turn around their circumstances and make something good out of their situations. In relation to the issue of fear, like I said, many still do not know how to handle this emotion (or shall I call it ‘monster’? ), to put it at bay or better still, snuff the life out of it. The good news is that some have! The question is ‘have you’?
If you have not, then find others who have done so, and learn from their ‘victory’ stories, the strategies they employed in winning the battle against fear. It is important to do so, if you ever want to face your fears. If you have, then dip into your wealth of experience and share with others, what fears had assailed you in the past, and how you have been able to overcome them. You will be helping others face their fears.
