“I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I’ll cross the stream, I have a dream”
I love this song by ABBA/WESTLIFE because it makes so much sense to me. The new year 2015 has kicked off in grand style, with new hope, new aspiration, new ambition, new goal, new dream. Well, some of these are not really new, because they were same things we had on our plate in 2014 and we have simply repackaged them for 2015 with strong tenacity (I believe) to see them achieved and fulfilled in the new year. Over time, I have gained some wisdom in the lyrics of this melodious song. I believe this song expresses resilience and tenacity – useful themes for 2015. Check this out:
“I have a dream, a song to sing…..to help me cope with anything.”
Yeah, hold on to that dream, if you have any, and if you don’t, get one! Turn it into a song, something that doesn’t leave your lips; something you’re constantly occupied with. Where I come from, when it’s said that someone has turned a matter into a song, it implies that the person is constantly speaking about that matter; it means that the person is not willing to let go of that matter until it is resolved. You know how a little child will keep saying, “Daddy, what about the toy you promised me,” “Daddy, remember you have not bought that toy for me,” and will not let go until daddy fulfils his promise.
You should treat your dream same way. Don’t let it out of your sight. Keep ‘singing’ it till it becomes so real and tangible, even if you are yet to lay hold of it. It keeps you sane – that you have something to live for, something to look forward to – it keeps you sane and you can cope with anything.
“If you see the wonder of a fairy tale, you can take the future even if you fail.”
I love fairy tales because anything is just possible in fairy tales. Imagine the wonder of a fairy tale where ‘puff’…and a wish comes true. Do not get me wrong; I do not mean you should ‘live’ in fantasy land and be unrealistic, I mean imagine the wonder of fantasy land and put your imagination to good use. The power of positive imagination cannot be underestimated. It propels creativity, it fuels innovation, it engenders invention. With your mind’s eye, you can see into a perfect future and you can take it, irrespective of a momentary failure.
“I believe in angels, something good in everything I see.”
Stay positive! See the good in life, even in the face of lack. Constantly entertain the strong believe that all will be well. Never ever see the ‘glass’ as half-empty; rather, see it as half-filled – be optimistic! Don’t give in to despair, don’t pitch tent with depression, don’t worry, be happy!
“When I know the time is right for me, I’ll cross the stream.”
Be sensitive! Watch out for right timing. Grab opportunities, don’t let them slip off your hands. Do the right thing at the right time with the right approach.
Jesus is LORD!
