While watching “Son of God” (somewhat a remix of “Jesus of Nazareth”), I made some observations from which I drew lessons. For instance, I observed that Jesus’ disciples were people who didn’t have it all figured out or ‘put together’. They were people who had their momentary doubts and uncertainties about who they were following; after all, He was supposedly just a human like them. However, in the face of all that, they chose to trust and have faith in their Master. I noticed, especially, how they’d smile in confidence at one another anytime He performed a miracle or outsmart those who were profusely trying to ‘prove Him wrong’. It was obvious that the things He did and said always allayed their fears and put their doubts to rest. His actions boosted their confidence and trust in Him.
Just like Jesus’ disciples then, we who follow Him today do not always have our situations and circumstances figured out. We are sometimes bugged with doubts and fears. But we have also heard about His marvelous deeds and seen what wonders He can do. In the midst of all doubts and fears, the testimonies of His great acts should be our confidence boost. Let your faith rise. Let your trust stand steadfast. If He did it before, He will do it again.
“Therefore do not cast from you your confident hope, for it will receive a vast reward.” Hebrews 10:35 (WNT)
“Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.” Hebrews 10:35 (NAS)
“So don’t lose your confidence. It will bring you a great reward.” Hebrews 10:35 (GWT)
Keep your confidence in Him.
