Get on board

I have travelled from Lagos to Abuja by road and by air respectively and I can categorically say that like 7UP, the DIFFERENCE is CLEAR! Without exaggerating, I am sure the individual travelling by air would have made a return trip to and fro Abuja about 3 or 4 times before the one travelling by road gets to same destination. The one who is on a flight gets to the destination energized while the one on a road trip gets sapped of energy during the journey and on arrival.

On my last airborne trip, I began to think about the power and significance of flight. Of a truth, the mode of transportation nothwithstanding, one will still get to one’s destination but the timing will clearly differ, and it is a well known fact, that airborne travellers get to their destinations faster.

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Indeed, for our spiritual and even physical life journies, we need to be on a flight – not just any flight but a powerful and secure one. The eagle is undoubtedly the most powerful of birds. With its very strong wings, it flies and reaches to the highest altitude, one that no other bird dares. Not only that, the eagle also flies with very great speed. Mounting up with wings like eagles simply means flying at the highest altitude with great speed.

But how do we get on board this great flight? By waiting on God! How do we wait on God? By trusting Him; By placing our hope in Him; By waiting for His instructions; By serving Him; By pleasing Him; By obeying Him…..When we do all of these, when our lives are centered on Him, we receive strength (and grace) for the eagle’s flight.

In this season, may we mount up on eagle’s wings and soar higher and higher above all limitations of life in Jesus’ name. Amen.images
